In 1988, Midland Physician Associates, PC, a physician organization, was created to represent local, community physicians with payor contracting, physician-hospital relations and physician networking.
By 1993, the local community of physicians had grown beyond the Midland area, and Midland Physician Associates, PC, incorporated as a physician organization (PO) and changed its name to Physician Associates of MidMichigan, PC. Recognizing the need for physician input on payor contracts and network management, PAM became an equal Partner with MidMichigan Health in the development of what is currently known as a physician hospital organization (PHO), MidMichigan Health Network (MHN).
Today, MHN is a profitable joint Partner venture, directing and managing all aspects of ConnectCare and provider contracting with self-funded, governmental and commercial payors. MHN and PAM facilitate network credentialing, payor contracting and network management for roughly 600 independent and MidMichigan-employed physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and other clinical practitioners, spanning a large geographic footprint in MidMichigan that covers 23 counties.
Recognizing the expansive community health and education needs and a having a strong desire to give back to the communities served, in 2020 the PAM Board approved the development of the Physician Associates of MidMichigan Community Medical Foundation (‘PAMCMF’) and convened its inaugural Board of Directors, which included Thomas Johnson, MD, President, Mark Ostahowski, MD, Vice President, Robert Snyder, DO, Secretary, James Frye, MD, Treasurer, Daniel Sorenson, MD, Director, and Doak Stolz, CFP, Director. Each of the inaugural physician board members previously served in leadership roles with PAM.
