Board of Directors

Thomas Johnson, MD

Thomas Johnson, MD
PRESIDENT

I became a provider of OB/GYN services in the Midland, Michigan service area in July of 1988.  After thirty-three years, I am still involved with women’s healthcare. As an inaugural member of the Physician Associates of MidMichigan (PAM) organization, I realized the importance of partnering with MidMichigan Health in order to form a physicians/hospital organization (PHO) whose goal was to provide high quality, affordable healthcare within our communities. I soon became a PAM board member and then rose to its presidency, a position which I have held for over twenty years.

The early years of this organization were financially challenging, however, now we have the good fortune of being successful. Enough so, that we are proudly launching a philanthropic foundation to give back to all of our communities under the MidMichigan Health Network/PAM banner. I am excited for this opportunity and look forward to the future. Please join us.

Vice President

I am a Midland native, and practicing family medicine physician in Midland my entire career. I've been involved in physician leadership beginning as a founding board member at the inception of PAM. I continue on the boards of PAM and Great Lakes Physician Organization. I am committed to helping physicians do their important jobs more effectively.

The idea of a philanthropic arm of PAM (PAMCMF) came from my 30+ year role as president of the Allen Foundation, a Midland-based nutritional foundation. The concept in creating PAMCMF is to give back, not just to the physicians of PAM, but to the communities in which we serve. This is very exciting!

Secretary

I was born and raised in Midland. After being gone from the community for 18 years for education, training and six years of practice, I was fortunate to return to Midland. I practiced Anesthesiology for over 25 years at MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland. I have been involved in physician leadership roles at the local, State and National levels. I was a member of the committee that initiated “Connect Care” which is a combination of MHN and PAM. I served as one of the original officers of PAM and I am very proud of its accomplishments.

I was honored to be asked to serve on the board of PAMCMF, the philanthropic arm of PAM. Helping to solve problems in the community to improve lives is a wonderful lesson that I learned from my years as a Holt Jaycee. I am thankful that PAM has been successful and look forward to giving back to all the communities in which we serve.

Treasurer

I was born and raised in Michigan’s thumb. I attended Notre Dame and the University of Michigan Medical School, and completed a family practice residency at the Midland Hospital. After serving our country in the United States Air Force, I founded and developed a family medicine practice in the Midland community for 43 years. I have had the opportunity to contribute to hospital staff committees, the United Way, the county medical society and the development of the 555 Medical Office Building on Wackerly St. in Midland. Recognizing the need for better physician participation in systemic medical decisions, I served as one of the founding physician Members of Physician Associates of MidMichigan, P.C., and remained a Member until my retirement from clinical practice. I am delighted to continue to serve and support activities that promote good health and medically-related education.

Director

After graduating from medical school in 1972, I moved to Midland to start my post-graduate training. I had lived in a dozen different towns before arriving here and did not anticipate staying beyond the time needed to complete my education.

But, of course, your education is never complete. I remained to practice in the Emergency Department for nearly forty years and then segued into a role as medical director of MidMichigan Health Network; a consortium of several regional hospitals and physicians who staffed them.

Midland has been a wonderful place to raise a family. The region is blessed by having a kind and generous populace and multiple foundations that have enriched Midland and its surrounding region with contributions to our culture, education, health, safety and beauty. I anticipate that the PAMCMF will serve our communities in similar way.

Director

I am a Certified Financial Planner and enjoy serving on various boards and committees. I am a member of the Northeast Michigan Estate Planning Counsel and bring a wide range of wealth management expertise to the PAMCMF through my 30+ years of experience in the financial services industry. I started my career with A.G. Edwards working as the Vice President of Investments and Branch Manager. An acquisition led me to become the Director of Investments at Wells Fargo Advisors before most recently moving to my current practice as the Managing Director of Investments and Branch Manager at the Stifel, Nicolaus & Company, Inc. office in Midland.

I assist clients in practicing good stewardship of their assets, while also providing impactful support and planning in other financial areas of their lives such as philanthropic giving and tax and estate planning. I plan to bring a similar skillset in my guidance as a board member. I believe in the strong healthcare systems offered throughout MidMichigan and I am passionate about giving back. Through these skillsets and the relationships I’ve built with MidMichigan healthcare providers in the area, I hope to assist PAMCMF in contributing as much as possible to physician and community causes for years to come.
