The County of Midland Emergency Medical Services Advisory Board was awarded funding to purchase two LUCAS chest compression devices. The LUCAS chest compression system is a mechanical device that compresses a patient’s chest in cardiac arrest. A substantial percentage of Midland County fire departments cover rural areas and do not have access to immediate ambulance care due to time and distance. The LUCAS chest compression devices will allow Midland County first responders to provide quicker lifesaving care to members of the community.
